Digital immortality is temporary
If the recent historical memory passes through photography, one fact is true: these photos will not remain. Even if they seem prints came from a digital camera, they are not only prints since the temporary source file is automatically deleted once the printing is done. These photographs are printed on thermal paper, so they will surely vanish. How long can a photo last compared to a manuscript, a painting or a sculpture?
TEMP is a live exhibition of instant temporary photos: a temporary exhibition made of photos that do not last over time. Are we sure to entrust our memories to insecure digital immortality?

It is said that every work has a life of its own... This time, however, it will certainly have its end.
Before bringing TEMP on exhibition, I wanted to experience the detachment firsthand: the first vanished photo gave me a sense of dismay... I knew I had lost a picture, but I didn't know which one. After other lost photos, I can say that it was a cathartic experience that, I hope from the heart, also happens to you, participants in this project.
I thank those who did not want the photo because they did not want to disappear or because materially unhelpful to own, who crumpled it like a receipt, who continues to look at it in the anxious wait for it to disappear, who finally, like my 8-year-old daughter, insisted crying to re-photograph their memories.

L’immortalità digitale è temporanea
Se la memoria storica recente passa dalla fotografia, una cosa è certa: le foto di questa serie non resteranno. Pur di origine digitale, esse non sono stampe ma originali, in quanto il file temporaneo di origine viene automaticamente distrutto una volta terminata la stampa. Essendo fotografie stampate su carta termica, sono fisicamente destinate a svanire.
Quanto può durare una foto rispetto a un manoscritto, un dipinto o una scultura? Come conserviamo la nostra memoria?

TEMP è una mostra live di foto temporanee: Una mostra viva che si riempie in tempo reale, una esposizione temporanea fatta da foto istantanee che non durano nel tempo. Siamo proprio certi di affidare i nostri ricordi ad un’insicura immortalità digitale?

Si dice che ogni opera abbia una vita propria... questa volta però, avrà certamente una propria fine.
Prima di portare TEMP in esposizione ho voluto provare in prima persona il distacco: la prima foto svanita mi ha dato un senso di sgomento... sapevo di aver perduto una foto, ma non sapevo quale. Dopo altre foto perdute posso dire che è stata un’esperienza catartica che, spero di cuore, capiti anche a voi, partecipanti a questo progetto.
Ringrazio chi non ha voluto la foto perché non voleva scomparire o perché materialmente poco utile da possedere, chi l’ha accartocciata come uno scontrino, chi continua a guardarla nella trepidante attesa che scompaia, chi infine come mia figlia di 8 anni, ha insistito, piangendo, per rifotografare i propri ricordi.
Ringrazio chi non ha voluto la foto perché non voleva scomparire o perché materialmente poco utile da possedere, chi l’ha accartocciata come uno scontrino, chi continua a guardarla nella trepidante attesa che scompaia, chi infine come mia figlia di 8 anni, ha insistito, piangendo, per rifotografare i propri ricordi.
